The dreams and fears of children and young people deserve to be taken seriously. Therefore, we wish to create quality performances that ask questions whilst challenging our audience as well as making them laugh.
Who are we?
We perform theater for children and young people from the age of 6 upwards, with a focus on students and schools in the area of Östergötland.
Ung Scen Öst was founded in 2001 and is an independent part of Östgötateatern, which together with Norrköpings Symfoniorkester and Östgötamusiken form Scenkonst Öst. The CEO is Pia Kronqvist. In total, the company has approximately 200 permanent employees and a turnover of about 200 million Swedish kronor per annum. The owners are Region Östergötland, Norrköping Municipality and Linköping Municipality.

Since it first started Ung Scen Öst has been one of Sweden’s leading scenes within performing arts for children and young people. Since December 1st 2020, Paula McManus has been artistic director.
What do we offer?
We produce 4-5 of our own productions per year, usually completely original, newly written plays. Performances play out on fixed stages in Linköping and Norrköping, as well as in classrooms in and around Östergötland. The region's schools attend the performances for free.
